New Assessment Materials Now Available: The Concepts of Comprehension Assessment (COCA)™ and the Informational Strategic Cloze Assessment (ISCA)™  |

We are pleased to announce the availability of two new assessments of informational reading comprehension: The Concepts of Comprehension Assessment (COCA)™ for grades one and two and the Informational Strategic Cloze Assessment (ISCA)™ for grades one, two, and three. Both assessments are designed to measure four contributors to reading comprehension: comprehension strategy use, vocabulary strategy use and knowledge, knowledge of informational text features, and comprehension of graphics in the context of text.
We are making the ISCA™ and COCA™ assessments and all associated materials (including administration and scoring training videos) available free for download at the following links:

Patricia Edwards Elected Vice President of the International Reading Association |

Michigan State University professor and LARC Principal Investigator Pat Edwards has been elected Vice President of the International Reading Association. She will serve as Vice President of the 85,000-member organization during the 2008-2009 term, and will then serve as President during the 2009-2010 term. Pat also recently served as President of the National Reading Conference, a post she held in 2006-2007. Congratulations to Pat for her continued leadership in the field of literacy! |
