LARC Project

A Study of Elementary and Middle School Teachers Who Communicate Effectively With Parents

Michael Pressley & Patricia Edwards, Project Directors

Using a principal nomination approach, we are identifying teachers who communicate well with parents. These teachers will complete a long questionnaire about how they communicate as well as their beliefs about how teachers should and do communicate with parents. There is a special focus on gathering information about how they communicate when students are doing well, average, or below average in reading and language arts. This is envisioned as the first of a series of studies to provide comprehensive information about how teacher-parent communications can be done well, especially with respect to information about literacy achievement.
